Meta (Llama)

Llama (Large Language Model Meta AI) is Meta's family of open-source large language models first released in February 2023. The latest Llama 4 release features models named 'Scout' and 'Maverick' with industry-leading performance in image and text understanding. Llama 3.1 includes models ranging from 8 billion to 405 billion parameters pre-trained on ~15 trillion tokens. Meta provides both open-source models for self-hosting and a Meta-hosted API service. Llama is designed as an auto-regressive transformer model optimized for efficiency and low costs, used by companies for localized educational content, video call summarization, medical information systems, and custom healthcare AI solutions.
